Marilyn Simpson Ford Award of Distinction - This award formally recognizes the commitment of an individual to the Association and shows appreciation for their time, service, and dedication to FCA’s vision and purpose. Established in 1989 by Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, the award is presented each year at the annual conference and honors past editor Marilyn Simpson Ford.

Evin C. Varner, Jr. Award of Distinction - This award formally recognizes a member of an FCA member organization who has communicated the meaning of fraternity through notable efforts and results over a period of years working for their organization. The nominee should also have demonstrated sincere and credible leadership and service to the Greek-letter system. Established in 1985, Evin C. Varner was the first recipient of the award, shortly before his death in 1985. As the Grand Senior President of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and President of College Fraternity Editors Association (now FCA), Evin led both organizations to enhance program offerings. He was a leader and speaker for many interfraternal programs and, as editor of his fraternity’s magazine, The Tomahawk, his work won several awards. Throughout his distinguished career in communications, marketing, and public relations, Evin always had time for individuals who sought his counsel, and he easily shared his sense of mission. He was an innovator, a doer and—above all—a friend. Evin influenced others to have an appreciation of fraternal communications and appreciate the value of interfraternal cooperation. It is in the spirit caring, sharing, communicating and achieving the Evin C. Varner, Jr. Award memorializes, recognizes, and inspires others to do the same.
